European stock exchanges gearing up for change

FinanceMalta has published an atricle 'European stock exchanges gearing up for change' written by EXANTE’s Communication Director Patrick O’Brien. In this text he shared his views on the current state of stock exchanges in Europe and their disposition to change.

According to Patrick, there are several reasons for such tendency in the markets. One of them is the regulation within the sector. European regulators have always encouraged stock exchange competition and, after the 2008 crisis, pushed banks to use clearing houses to curb risk. Exchanges altered course as their old business grew tougher and another one expanded.

Two more reasons are the highly adaptable capitalism and the growth of competition driven by technological innovation. In such conditions stock exchanges are also working hard to take advantage of the global opportunities.
