EXANTE at the Grandmasters Palace
The Grandmasters Palace
The Prestigious Grandmaster’s Palace in Valletta will host over 300 guests for The President’s Dinner and Concert on May 27, 2017. The event, which is considered among the most prestigious on the Maltese social calendar, is already a sell-out, with all proceeds going towards The Malta Community Chest fund.
At the press launch, EXANTE’s Communication Director, who is Committee Chairman for this event, expressed thanks to the committee and sponsors.
«It is of the utmost importance that we as firms and businesses work together with the local community to raise funds for local volunteer organisations» he stated.
Dominating Palace Square, the Grandmaster’s Palace was one of the first buildings to be built in Valletta in 1571. The original palazzo was designed by Gelormu Cassar but successive Grandmasters enlarged and redeveloped the building that became their official residence.
The Grandmaster’s Palace hall
The Grandmaster’s Palazzo has always hosted the government of Malta, first the knights, then under the British, it served as the Governor’s Palace. It now hosts the President’s office as well as the House of Representatives.
Following the dinner guests will be invited to «Mozart at Midnight», organised by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. The concept for the late-night event comes from Mozart himself, who frequently organised and hosted concerts which would go on late into the night.
The concert will seek to recreate this atmosphere, under the direction of its principal conductor Brian Schembri and with the collaboration of hornist Jose García Gutiérrez, who will be performing some of Mozart’s best-loved works including his famous Eine kleine nachtmusik — «a little serenade» — before a performance of the composer’s 4th Horn Concerto.
